FDV leave announced during #16DaysInWA

Ruah is pleased to have introduced 10 days of paid Family and Domestic Violence leave for Ruah employees, with that leave immediately available to support team members who are experiencing personal family and domestic violence

The announcement was made during another massive 16 Days in WA across Ruah.

This year’s theme ‘Don’t be silent when you see violence’, encouraged people to speak up and contribute to positive change. We took this theme, made the statement ‘Stopping family violence is everyone’s business’; and asked the question ‘What will you do?’

Showing up is just as important as speaking out, and our teams once again walked alongside the people we support as well as friends, family, colleagues, and at the Silent Domestic Violence Memorial Marches in Perth and Geraldton to honour those lost to family violence.

Throughout the 16 days, Ruah staff took part in sessions to raise awareness of family and domestic violence across all our teams and enable everyone to see the signs of violence and respond safely and confidently both in and outside the workplace.

Every day, Ruah helps women and children experiencing domestic violence to access safety and justice. We have been doing that since we opened Perth’s first women’s refuge half a century ago, and we will continue to do so until together we stop the violence.
